This is something I've been using for over a month now, and all I have to say that I'm loving it.
Sometimes when playing movie files, you will have some problem with the movie being blurry, sometimes too dark, or maybe sometimes the brightness is too high that all the dark background will eventually turns grey.
The video quality that I've found will increase to its maximum. Where the video quality is intended to be in the first place, with no other effects from the overlay or some terms I don't know what it is
Ok, here is how to set it:
1) Open VLC Media Player
2) Go to Settings >> Preferences
3) Go to Video >> Output Modules
4) Select the Advanced options
5) Video output module, choose Windows GDI video output
6) Save, close the player, and open it again.
7) See the improvement in quality.
If you didn't like how it looks, you can always change it back to Default |

I've been looking for this! Please make this sticky.
By the way, will this work for MAC's VLC? |

It was tested on Windows and it worked. Maybe you can try it on your MacBook and tell us if it works for Mac or not |

Theorically, the method works for MAC as well, but in Mac there is no 'Windows' GDI video output! |

The disadvantage of this mode as far as I could tell is the downsizing. If the movie is 1920x1080 and I downsize it to the lower resolution, the movie will have annoying lines that is very distracting when watching a movie. |
